THE DIRTY HAIR MYTH:
"Prom and wedding season is upon us. A common myth we cringe to hear is that dirty or day old hair holds styling better. Unfortunately, this is not true. Whether it's natural from the scalp, or added in the form of a serum, oil breaks down the hold of other styling products. Our professional preference on keeping your "do" bouncy and lively is CLEAN, DRY hair. Let us "dirty" it up with the correct products to hold your style into its last, sparkling moments."
Happy Wednesday! Anne has a tip for you:
"'Tis the season...for head lice, that is. It's spreading like wildfire right now and whether you're 3 or 63, you need to know how to protect yourself from getting it. We all know the "don't share a hairbrush" rule, but what about selfies? We pull in close to our friends to snap that perfect picture without even realizing our hair is touching! When it comes to protecting yourself, common sense always rules best - but there are products that can help protect you as well. Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree products are PERFECT because lice HATE the smell of them. The misconception is that people with head lice are "dirty." Incorrect! Lice don't like dirty hair, certain smells, oils, and heat. Protect yourself, and your children, by using the correct products, keeping your tools sanitized, and never sharing them. And next time you lean in for a selfie with your BFF, add some space in between those gorgeous heads! If you have questions or concerns on preventing head lice, contact any of us for product recommendations and sanitation guidelines. If you think you may already have head lice, consult your doctor. They will help you find the correct products to get rid of them."
Did you see us at Naka-Kon? We channeled our inner Disney steam punk princesses for our first anime hair panel. If you were there, we'd love to see your cosplay. We already can't wait for next year!

Exciting news! According to a report on the Today show, it appears that we are just a few years away from having an actual cure for baldness!! So throw that tupee away, say goodbye to that comb-over, adios to those hair replacement treatments that cost to the tune of thousands of dollars! How is this possible you ask? Apparently, it could all be thanks to a little guy we all know as………..Vitamin D! Here’s how it works- the hair follicle is the receptor just underneath your scalp where the hair strand grows from. A hair follicle continuously goes through a cycle of three different stages. 1) Anagen-or growth stage, 2) Catagen- or dormant stage, and 3) Telogen- or fall-out stage. All the follicles on your head are at different stages at any given time, so some of your hairs are growing, while some of them are sitting and doing nothing, while others are actually falling out (ex: people lose an average of 100 strands of hair a day). Now what causes baldness to occur is that something will happen to the hair follicle for one of any number of reasons that causes it to become permanently stuck in the dormant stage, and as the rest of the hair follicles work their way through the cycle, when they hit the dormant stage, they become permanently stuck there as well.
So how does Vitamin D fit into the picture? Researchers are finding that Vitamin D seems to have the ability to reactivate the dormant follicle and, essentially, wake it back up and restore to a fully functioning hair follicle! Imagine if your hair follicle were a lock, then Vitamin acts as the key to open that lock and allow the hair to come through once again. Researches say they are likely only a few years away from having something concrete to offer the public although it is still unclear if it will be a topical applicant, pill form, or some other form of administration. But none the less, pretty exciting news for those 40 million+ men and 25 million+ women that struggle with baldness!
