Six Local Salons from across the metro and Paul Mitchell The School Overland Park are coming together as one community to create a collection of inspirational couture hair designs for 2011. Salon participants include Pinkie Couture, Last Tangle Salon, Salon Ambiance, Shannon's Place, Studio 39 and Revue Salon & Spa.
The mission of this project is to bring together the beauty community and raise awareness that unlike reality TV shows, hair stylists are not just all about drama, spray tans, and superficial gossip. Small business owners can come together and offer each other education, support, and resources, which is almost non-existent amongst Kansas City salons. Small businesses can effect a change that could move through the entire beauty industry and potentially help stir the economy.
The goal is to create beautiful cutting edge images and inspire their peers to always push themselves for excellence and send a message about building community relationships between competing salons. Working together to share knowledge, improve skills, and supporting each other will increase their ability to provide a quality service experience to all salon customers.
Participating stylists will create complete looks on Kansas City's Top models including hair coloring, cutting and styling for this incredible video/photo shoot. Local salon owners and their assistants are doing all of the “behind the chair” work. Make-up artists include Ang FX, Jolie Artistry, Make-up Artistry by Scarlet, and Patricia Clinton. The Video Project is being produced by local business, Digital Milk and Photography is by Brad Austin of Rocketbox Photography Studio. The participants will be publishing a 20 page book titled "Creative Infusion," showing Bridal, Avant Garde, Classic Hollywood, and Rocker Chic inspirations.
UPDATE:
In January
Pinkie Couture participated in Creative Infusion, one of six KC salons chosen for a collective art book. The owners of each salon pulled together their individual visions and refreshing opinions on four models with four different cuts, colors and styles. Each model was photographed by Brad Austin and a video was produced by Digital Milk.
